Christmas Babies
For me there is nothing that can touch the feeling of watching the watching the wonder of Christmas in a little child’s eyes! They embody the joy we are to embrace, the excitement of anticipation, the awe of the simplicity and humbleness of the true meaning of Christmas.
I may be a little bias to “Christmas babies,” or December babies, because I am one and so is my nephew. But there is something so special about a newborn baby at Christmas. Holding a Miracle. Embracing and studying their tiny attributes. I believe is holy.
And of course, as the picture today shows, every year there is more and more twinkle in their eyes 😉
Since it’s close to Christmas and most likely the lists are complete for all the little ones in your life, I thought I would give my favorite “Must-Have” suggestions for new parents and grandparents (and really anyone who loves children😊 I still hang onto some of these items) Some are splurges, BUT I guarantee you will not regret a single penny you spend! So let’s dive in…
Dock-A-Tot: These come in two sizes, 0-12 months and 12+ months. I’ve owned both. Before my little one came along, I purchased the 12+ months one for my nephew. At our house, he wasn’t a fan of the crib and of course you can work the heartstrings of your aunt or grandparents and wiggle your way into their beds. We called this his “boat” his blankets, pacis, lovies all stayed in his boat during the day. So it really worked as a crib/bed. When my Lucy came along she slept in a bassinet for a few weeks but she was pretty active and I became unsettled with her in it during the night. So I started laying her in the 0-12 months size, beside me in bed. Best sleep I have ever had! Would not change a thing! She slept there or in my arms until Jesus scooped her up in his arms! (This was also the only way the hospital would allow me to have a bed instead of a crib for her- she was pretty mad about the crib and she made her voice known- so that also probably was a factor into the consideration too.) They have a whole lot more color options and add-ons than when I had mine, so have fun!
Owlet: I highly recommend the owlet sock! Especially if there is any concern for oxygen or heart rate. Since Lucy was in the NICU for these two things, this purchase was a no-brainer. I actually would leave it on her most of the day, or at least if she was real upset, because it would at least alert me if her oxygen was dropping. Now for my mom, she wishes she had this for my brother and I and all three of her grandchildren! She probably would have made it permanent if she could have! 😊 (Since I have purchased this, some insurance will cover the cost! It’s worth a try!)
High Chairs:
Stokke Tripp Trapp: I love this high chair! It goes from newborn to adult! I purchased it before Lucy arrived and we just used it as a chair. I explains itself, but true quality!

Ciao! Portable High Chair: This high chair is foldable and stores in a bag. Wonderful for grandparents or to have for outdoor activities. We had this at our lake house due to tight space and eating on the front porch, and it was awesome! Easy to wipe off and store away.
Radio Flyer Wagons: Everybody needs a wagon right? Radio Flyer is hands down the best. We had the one with the two canopies, but I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them!
Folding Changing Table: I found having a changing table somewhere in/around the family room was super helpful. Also a great gift for grandparents houses! (I had one from Ikea, but this one is very similar)
While on the subject of changing/diapering, I also learned from a good friend to have chucks on hand to lay on the changing table, especially when diaper rash happens, because it will happen! These also are just a life-saver, you won’t always be washing the pad cover! You can get them a medical supply stores in bulk or you can get them at drugstores or target…
Down the road, potty training will come up… honestly this little potty makes it a little less stressful. Just get some good hand sanitizer and always make sure you have a towel or chucks in your car, and floor space! I have given these potties as gifts to so many!
Frida: I love their nail files and Accudose medicine pacifier. They have many other products that people rave over too.
OogieBear Nose cleaner and Ear wax remover: LOVE this tool! Even after tubes were placed in a little one’s ears in our family there was still lots of wax. This tool won’t let you go too far in the ear and gentle removes the wax. And gets those boogies too!
Cutie Dose: Ever since I saw a news report on a child getting the small plastic piece from a medicine syringe stuck in his throat, I am super cautious about them. But these have no plastic pieces!
Silicone Scrubbie: Silicone brush that helps with dry skin but also is gentle enough to wash their tiny bodies.
Now for the finale, my absolute favorite muslin brand and favorite cotton brand. Little unicorn has the best sleep sacks, security blankets, swaddles, towels, burp cloths, bibs, quilts, etc. I love muslin! By far the best cotton brand I have found is Copper Pearl! Super soft, not too heavy, breathable. And both have great designs, which is half the fun! 😊 Little giraffe nap pillows are also my favorite little “prop up” pillows.
So whether you have a little one to observe this Christmas, or you look back on Christmas’ past, I hope you will take the time to slow down and take a moment to remember the feeling of joy, excitement, and the awe that Christmas truly brings.
