You Just Gotta Laugh

“Trauma? Oh, you mean the reason I’m hilarious!” (the picture is a little blurry)

I don’t know if you have the laughing gene, the one when something should be considered a serious moment or situation, but your brain signals otherwise. I do. Most of my family does. So when one of us starts, we all start shaking and looking for an escape route.

If you have this disease you know how incredibly hard it is to stop once you start. And sometimes it’s nothing that has been said or done that sparks the laughter. Most of the time it something that triggers a memory – seeing or hearing something, or your brain just thinking, “know is a good time to bring this to mind.”

Anyways, if I had the time and space to tell you the bizarre stories that at the moment scared the poo out of me, but fortunately God gave me a sense of humor, so I now can laugh about something amongst the trauma- these would last days.

Trauma: stress; pain; suffering; grief. Just a few words that define trauma. We all have trauma. We all have our own way of coping with these things. There is no right or wrong way to cope as long as we are doing something.

One of my struggles that has become harder in the last 10 years is that my lower back/hips/upper thighs will just give out all of the sudden and the most comfortable position for me to get in to regain feeling is to squat. We have moved three times within this ten years – so imagine being my parents just finding me squatting in random areas of our house while packing and unpacking. Literally, a physical and emotional and mental relief – non-stop laughter! Even when in pain- we have to find the thread of humor.

This is a short post this week. But I encourage you to laugh – find something that will make you have an outburst of laughter. It’s healing, freeing, and best of all FREE!
